I keep seeing on eBay postings such as the following:

eBay Posting

If you read through the description he/she says its "handmade". What in the world does that mean? It came from a handmade tree? Is there someone out there handmaking trees?

What gets me is the "extreme figure". It's so extreme, you can almost see it.

How about the shipping.....$38 from TN. It must go all the way around the world.

Yes, and so rare and desireable, it will cost you $36.95 to Buy it Now.

What a deal!

I like the starting bid price of $35.95. HUGE savings there.

Here, here!

A couple of weeks ago, I saw a deal I couldn't pass up and ended up paying one of those ridiculous flat-rate shipping charges to send 8 lbs. from St. Paul to Milwaukee. It was still a heck of a deal, but deep down I felt like a sucker.

Just to put some of this in perspective. eBay charges sellers based on selling price (%%) so if a seller wants $50 for something as a guarantee they can bump up the shipping which will ultimately result in lower purchase price as everyone does or should consider total cost not just win price. This way, they lower their selling cost. Not deception, just strategy

What Rich said, plus, I think this set is being drop-shipped from Brazil, while the seller is located in Tennessee. A lot of major sellers do this. Amazon, comes to mind.

I bought a set from an OLF vendor recently, cost was about seventy bucks, bought it off Ebay. cost was about the same as this when shipped.

I saw this on the Bay and thought it strange turned, but upon closer inspection, really isn't.

NOBODY likes hype though, do they? Especially extreme hype.... grin... Bruce Dickey38857.6683101852

Last week someone put New Zealand up for sale on Ebay. Bidding started
at 3 cents and got to about $3000 before Ebay realised it was a hoax.

Best thing I've seen on eBay has to be an old Titan I missle base:

The questions down at the bottom are awesome, too.
